Creating a Reference List

Answer

Creating a References Page

Creating your references page is also simple.

  1. References start on a new page.

  2. Type ‘References’ at the top and center of the page, in bold print (do not italicize or underline).

  3. The text should be double spaced, and the entries should be in the APA format.

  4. Reference list entries must be in alphabetical order.

  5. Each entry should use the hanging indention, i.e. for each entry, every line after the first line must be indented.

  6. To apply a hanging indention, right-click on the desired paragraph, select paragraph from the menu, then under Indention, select the Special drop-down menu, select Hanging, then click OK. (You can also highlight all your references and apply these steps to all of them at once).

Reminder:

  1. Check that you have cited all quotations and paraphrases in-text and in the references.
  2. Any item that was cited in-text must have a reference list entry
  3. Every item that is included in your references must have been cited at least once in-text.
