What are Quality Points? How do I calculate my Cumulative Grade Point Average?

Answer

We use quality points as a way to figure out grade point averages. There is a specific method that is used to calculate quality points in order to determine GPA. In order to do so, please view the Course Catalog for information on the Grading Scales and Grade values. You will use the numeric value assigned to the grade (IE: 'B' = 3) and multiply that by the credits you've earned for the course. **Example: ENG107 (4.5 credits) Grade received A. A=4 Credits Earned = 4. 4*4.5=18. The Quality Point would be 18.

To calculate overall Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), you then add up the total number of quality points for all earned grades and divide this by the number of total credits. This will provide you with your current CGPA.
