Can I purchase a Chromebook from AIU?

AIU has a new program to enable students to purchase Chromebooks from the school using your educational funds. While this is not necessarily cheaper, it allows you to use educational funding to order from the school. If you have questions, you should speak with your advisor

Q: How much will the Chromebook cost?

A: The cost of the Chromebook will range from $260-$290 depending on pricing fluctuations. This may change in the future depending on the model and availability.

Q: What are the technical specifications for the Chromebook?

A: Specifications may vary based on model; however, the minimum specification will include 4 GB RAM, 11” HD display, and 30 GB of storage space.

Q: How will the student pay for the Chromebook?

A: The student will be presented with two options to purchase the Chromebook:

  • Option 1: The cost of the Chromebook will be added to the student’s institutional charges for the academic year, and the student will be able to use their educational funding to pay for the laptop fee. In the event the student does not have remaining eligibility to cover the cost the laptop fee, they will have the option to include the cost in their student payment agreement.
  • Option 2: The student may elect to pay for the Chromebook via an upfront one-time payment. Payment will be accepted no earlier than three weeks prior to their expected start date.

Q: What are the eligibility requirements to purchase the Chromebook?

A: The student must sign and submit the Laptop Purchase Agreement and meet all the requirements below:

  • School status must be Active;
  • Financial Aid status must be Packaged or Cash;
  • Proof of high school graduation or proof of baccalaureate degree on file. Attestation is also acceptable.
  • Completed UNIV103 or UNIV103A (or not required to complete the courses).

Q: Who is not eligible to participate in the Chromebook purchase?

A: Students utilizing the Impact Grant or Resilience Grant are not eligible to use their educational funding to pay for the cost of the Chromebook. However, these students may elect option 2 and purchase the Chromebook upfront.
