First of all, your assignment should describe some of your format requirements such as whether you need to use APA formatting, have a title page, etc. If it needs to be written in APA Format, this APA guide has a downloadable Word template and the basic rules for APA formatting.
The AIU Writing Center also has a number of tips on writing academic papers and for common writing and grammar issues.
Generally, with an essay, you want to start with the following general format:
- Introduction paragraph: This will introduce your basic topic and whatever problems/challenges there are. What is the purpose of your paper?
- Body Paragraphs: Now you lay out paragraphs that present different aspects of your topic, the points you want to make, and your evidence supporting those points.
- Conclusion: The ending paragraph. You will summarize all of your points and most important topic info here.
