CTU requires all students to use APA style (except when designated by the assignment) because it is very likely you will use APA in your future career or education. Learning the nit-picky details of APA takes time and effort, like any skill worth learning. We introduce it in the very first undergraduate classes and then provide plenty of times to practice throughout the degree.
